PEER ASSISTED LONG TERM SUBSTANCE ABUSE

THE , . IS ESTABLISHED TO RAISE FUNDS TO BE DONATED TO ORGANIZATIONS FOCUSING ON FAMILIES DEALING WITH CANCER, ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION, AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES.

In 2018 the organizations served 70 individuals and families affected substance use and/or mental health disorders. Due to the increase of opiate and heroin use in Connecticut the demand of trained recovery coaches there was a greater need to support individuals and families during the drug epidemic crisis. The program objectives is to provide a non-judgmental safe environment, train 60 new recovery coaches to learn how to assist individuals and families struggling with addictions by finding access to treatment and recovery, mental health first aid training and family support groups. A comprehensive survey was provided to all participants indicating demographics and to measure the outcome of success for the training and support groups.

To help children and families in Israelfacing emotional distress and substance abuse.

PROVIDED CRISIS INTERVENTION, FOOD PANTRY DELIVERY, HOUSING, CLOTHING AND FURNITURE TO SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN THE DUBOIS AREA. ALSO PROVIDE FURNISHED ROOMS AT BELOW MARKET RATE. DURING 2021 PURCHASED HOME AND PROVIDED EMERGENCY HOUSING FOR HOMELESS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS.

When children in sponsorship programs grow up, their sponsorship eventually ends. This is called "aging out." Young adults aging out of sponsorship programs are at great risk. Research shows these young adults, who lack a support system for transitioning to adulthood, are significantly more vulnerable to dangers such as HIV, prostitution, depression, suicide, alcohol and drug abuse, malnutrition, and death. Struggles for food and housing reduce their ability to complete their education. Unemployment impacts their ability to support themselves. We come along side with financial support, local mentoring and accountability, and spiritual guidance as these young adults leave their childhood sponsorships and move into post secondary education, careers, and independent adulthood.
